3-D Fractals Offer Clues to Complex Systems

Mathematics can sometimes get lost in an abstract world losing all touch with reality. In an attempt to get their feet back on the ground the mathematicians DeMarco and Lindsey are making shapes from polynomial equations. Usually only represented in terms of x and y, polynomials are left in a flat plane – thus to become a shape they decided to utilize fractal dynamics and found some interesting results.
